ECM in the Age of Cloud and Mobility

By

Some clients prefer to call it ECM, some claim that it is just document management, but regardless of the term we coin, every CIO expects similar things from an ECM solution, i.e use less paper, eliminate human errors and streamline key business processes. This is the goal to ultimately make work productive and reduce risks. Current CIOs are on the lookout for vendors who can integrate their ECM solution with the likes of CRM, ERP, HRM and other business processes hence giving an all in one solution capable of multiple functions.

However a ECM solution that amalgamates these processes or works as a standalone solution, a robust security framework is of utmost importance to protect this sensitive data and encrypt it. This can ensure that sensitive information of different departments stays within the department itself.

It is also a well known fact that mobility has become a necessity for businesses to provide employees with mobile self-service document management capabilities. It is imperative for software programs to meet these cyber needs to stay relevant in today’s world. On-premise applications are no longer the talk of the town as their mobile counterparts take center stage, this ultimately leads to better integrations and better ROI. As ECM solutions operate better in a mobile world, the document management circle will be equipped to create fast and accurate data automation processing.

Similar to the mobility phenomenon, many ECM vendors have embraced the cloud as a cloud based ECM solution allows for lower overhead, flexibility in capacities and is cost effective.

As the workforce turns more mobile, a cloud based ECM allows information to be accessed from remote locations at any given time. With the increased bullying of social media coupled with the outlook of the 21st century youth, institutions offering ECM solutions need to adopt and accept the changes or survival will pose a tough task.

But many CIOs fear moving to the cloud owing to the traditional issue of placing the content in jeopardy. A good amount of businesses have decided not to get into the cloud for fear of losing vital business documents and sensitizing content. In light of these issues and a host of other problems facing the CIO community today, we have put together this month’s 20 most promising ECM solution providers. We are sure that these companies will understand and work towards simplifying and bettering your ECM requirements.
