NEC Technologies India: Incorporating Proprietary Technologies into Cloud Solutions to Mitigate Storage Challenges

By

A recent Gartner report states that the storage market is projected to reach USD 307 million in 2016, a 3 percent increase from 2015. This report is in parallel to the Cloud, Digitization, IoT and Big Data trends that have catapulted the storage industry into the zettabyte era. This has led organizations to deploy robust storage strategies capable of supporting various applications in their data centers in order to keep up with the demands of the digital world. Correspondingly, data security threats are increasingly becoming more complex and sophisticated. As a result, companies today are on the lookout for vendors who can provide an enterprise cloud strategy which provides avant-garde security and control, while embracing the agility and flexibility necessary to face modern challenges.

Headquartered in Noida, NEC Technologies India Pvt. Limited (NTI), the Indian subsidiary of NEC Corporation, develops a choice of products and appliances for Cloud and Storage.

NTI is into developing cloud infrastructure (Cloud Platform for IaaS) solutions for mission critical systems using Openstack and SDN. NEC’s ExpressCluster, also known as ClusterPro is a software solution that enables clients for remote business disaster recovery thus protecting the IT systems (including private Clouds) and preventing data loss.

“ExpressCluster not only ensures business continuity by enabling enterprises to host mission critical applications on private clouds but also helps in saving time and curbing excess costs,” says Jaspreet Dhanjal, Operations Director. The company’s storage solution that is based on the Scale-Out Grid technology is well capacitated (exceeding 150+ PB storage capacity, 5 PB per hour throughput) to be used for cloud storage (Object based storage) both for Public as well as the Private Cloud. Displaying various interfaces to the Public Cloud, the product’s de-duplication feature provides a low cost per petabytes of storage as compared to other vendors. Furthermore, it displays exceptional data recovery features using NEC’s proprietary RepliGrid technology. It has won the Gold Award at the 2016 11th Annual Hot Companies and Best Products awards in Storage solutions for the Network Storage Category which is the third straight year in a row.

Mx10 Series, the company’s state of the art storage solution is well capacitated to display 400 percent higher performance than the previous generation. The company ensures ease of use by integrating the software with multiple backup programs. Moreover, the solution can support 12GB per second disk interface. “Unique features like self-encrypting hard disks and NEC Erase Secure technology, the company’s proprietary technology based on the standards defined by the US Department of Defense, makes it one of a kind within our peers,” states Jaspreet.

2011 marked the turning point in NTI’s course of action wherein NEC Corporation outsourced Scale-Out Grid technology based product functions to NTI. “We pitched in our ideas for product innovation and began featuring the Product Roadmap thus becoming one of the drivers for innovative technologies in the storage world,” says Jaspreet. In line with NEC Corporation’s business direction, NEC Technologies India Pvt. Limited emphasizes strongly on Cloud, IoT, Big Data Analytics, SDN, Cyber Security and Storage. Boosting clients to move to Cloud leaving behind their worries about a secure Cloud environment, NTI intends to be one of the leader in the Storage Domain.
